Very popular, it was only the 4th non-musical play to run over 700 performances in the West End. Bill Fraser had supported Howerd in his 1951 radio series Fine Goings On and would of course go on to be reunited with Howerd again in the early 70s for the film trilogy of Up Pompeii, Up the Chastity Belt and Up the Front.
