Orion, who had worn dark brown “Bismarck” shirts, and Victoria United, whose colours were blue, were both dissolved alongside the original Aberdeen FC. After winning the Qualifying Cup in 1904, Aberdeen benefited from the expansion of the First Division from fourteen clubs to sixteen the following year and gained promotion to Scotland’s top tier.
