In this Season the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) created a team of the year, made up of the best players of that season, voted for by their peers at the end of the season. Portsmouth agonizingly missed out on promotion to the First Division in the 1984–85 Second Division season, finishing in fourth place behind Manchester City and Birmingham City on goal difference alone, despite amassing a massive 74 points, with Webb scoring an amazing 16 Goals from midfield.
