An original late Victorian or Edwardian cricket caricature watercolour on paper, depicting two contrasting umpires beneath the humorous caption “Umpires – the Long and Short of it!”. The drawing shows a tall, bespectacled umpire in profile alongside a much shorter counterpart, both rendered with great character and wit. It has the feel of a period sporting cartoon and would appeal to collectors of cricket, sporting art and antique ephemera. Executed in pen, ink and watercolour and mounted on contemporary card.
