This small, round plate made of patinated brass, which was probably used as an ashtray or shaped storage tray, is a historical memento from the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. The flat, bowl-shaped object shows a raised relief embossing of the famous Berlin Olympic Bell in the center. The detailed motif of the bell is visible in the negative on the underside of the bowl. It shows the German imperial eagle holding the Olympic rings in its claws. The original inscription “I call the youth of the world” written in Fraktur script is embossed on the lower edge of the bell.
