In the 2012–13 season, the North Carolina Tar Heels finished with a 25–11 overall record and went 12–6 in ACC play, good for third place in the conference. The Tar Heels knocked out Villanova Wildcats in the second round but were eliminated in the Round of 32 by Kansas Jayhawks, marking their second straight early exit.
