It is the second film inthe Karnstein Trilogy, loosely based on the 1872Sheridan Le Fanu novellaCarmilla. It was preceded byThe Vampire Lovers (1970) and followed byTwins of Evil (1971). Production ofLust for a Vampire began not long after the release ofThe Vampire Lovers.
