William Nassau Going round the bend I Signed, oil on canvas, 51 x 76cm (20 x 30in). After demobilisation from the 43rd Light Infantry, Nassau attended the Slade School of Art 1948-1951, though it was not until his retirement from the the Art business in London in 1980 that he took up painting professionally. He moved to East Sussex, and though at first concentrating on portraiture, he later turned to equestrian art and became a well known figure at Hickstead and Lingfield Park.
