A cricket stump which was used in the 5th Test between England & Rest of the World. It was played at The Oval in August 1970. Even though it was called a Test match, it was in fact a one-day game. It was called a Test match in the 1970s. England were due to tour South Africa that summer but it was cancelled for political reasons. A World XI side instead played England in five Test matches (one day matches). This stump is from the 5th Test and was part of Geoffrey Boycott’s collection which went up for auction in Christie’s initially. There’s a transfer printed inscription of the fixture on the stump.
