Don Cockell signed Vintage programme for an amateur boxing tournament held by the Mitcham Amateur Boxing Club (MABC) on Friday, 25th March 1977 at the Mitcham Baths, a venue that hosted its first public boxing exhibition in 1933. The programme is signed on the right side by Don Cockell, a legendary British boxer who lived and worked in the Mitcham area after his professional career. Known as the "Battersea Blacksmith," Cockell is most famous for his 1955 world heavyweight title fight against the undefeated Rocky Marciano in San Francisco. After retiring in 1956, Cockell worked as a blacksmith for London Underground and was often seen at local venues like the Nag's Head in Mitcham. In very good clean condition
